Mitigation Project Manager

Location: Louisville, KY
Employment Type: Full-Time

Join a Values-Driven Team

At First Light Restoration (FLR), we respond when it matters most—restoring homes and lives with urgency, quality, and compassion. As a Mitigation Project Manager, you’ll lead field teams through water and fire mitigation, mold remediation, and specialty restoration projects. You won’t just manage jobs—you’ll lead with integrity, build trust with customers, and raise the bar for performance and professionalism.

If you’re ready to lead with excellence, solve tough problems, and help people in their time of need, we want you on our team.

Who You Are

You’re a skilled leader with restoration experience and a passion for delivering results. You embrace accountability, bring structure to chaos, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. You prioritize customers by acting with empathy, urgency, and professionalism. You do whatever it takes to complete the job with quality, adapt quickly to challenges, and bring resourceful solutions to the table. You lead with a "Point Guard Mentality," collaborating with teammates, sharing the load, and celebrating shared wins. You drive performance by inspecting what you expect, setting high standards, and following through. You seek feedback, adapt to change, and strive for personal and team growth. Finally, you bring positive energy, resilience, and a winning attitude to every job—working hard and having fun doing it.

Key Responsibilities

You are expected to lead with discipline, ensuring every job reflects our values and standards. Safety is a non-negotiable priority. You will lead a culture of safety by enforcing FLR and OSHA standards, conducting safety briefings and audits, correcting unsafe behavior, and thoroughly investigating any incidents.

As a team developer, you will train, coach, and mentor technicians through hands-on field support and consistent feedback. You will reinforce expectations, create accountability, recognize high performance, and promote personal and professional growth across your team.

Leadership and management go hand in hand. You are expected to lead in alignment with FLR’s core values while managing the operational details—schedules, documentation, compliance, and execution. You will drive performance through proactive follow-ups, attention to detail, and consistent communication.

Customer experience is central to this role. You will manage the entire customer journey—from initial intake through the final walkthrough—ensuring that every customer feels informed, valued, and supported. You will communicate clearly, listen with empathy, and proactively manage expectations.

You are responsible for maintaining accurate and timely documentation on all jobs. This includes mitigation logs, jobsite photos, work authorizations, certificates of satisfaction, and compliance forms. You will ensure files are complete, billing-ready, and compliant with both internal and insurance standards.

Professional, timely communication with insurance adjusters is a key component of this role. You will be expected to write accurate scopes, provide job updates, resolve issues proactively, and build strong, collaborative relationships.

Your estimating responsibilities include creating detailed, scope-aligned estimates using Xactimate. Estimates must be submitted promptly, revised when necessary, and followed through to approval in collaboration with internal teams.

Performance Metrics

Each week, your performance is tracked against a scorecard that provides clarity and accountability. Key metrics include mitigation jobs started, weekly invoicing totals, number of jobs closed below margin, Google reviews, and average water mitigation cycle time. Meeting or exceeding these targets directly connects to company profitability and your own advancement opportunities.

For example, you’re expected to start five or more jobs each week, invoice at least $19,231, and maintain an average cycle time of ten days or less from job receipt to completion (including documentation). Consistently hitting these targets can position you for promotions, greater autonomy, and increased recognition.

Team Rhythms & Meeting Expectations

You will participate in weekly production meetings held every Tuesday at 8:30 AM. These meetings cover safety culture, customer feedback, operational updates, job status, and upcoming priorities. You’re expected to arrive prepared and contribute actively, bringing relevant job updates, KPI performance, and progress on team projects or “ROCKs.” You’ll also help identify and resolve both short-term and long-term issues using the IDS (Identify, Discuss, Solve) framework.

In addition, you will attend one-on-one meetings with your supervisor each week. These sessions provide alignment, coaching, and support. They include reviewing job wins, addressing what’s not working, and clarifying what you and your supervisor need from one another to succeed. This is also a space for training, resource support, and personal development conversations.

Strategic Initiatives & Accountability

You may be assigned quarterly ROCKs—high-impact projects with specific goals and milestones. You’ll report progress weekly and collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion. Tasks assigned to you must be completed by the committed date; if not, they become part of the weekly Issues List and require discussion and resolution. You will also participate in WIP (Work In Progress) reviews to monitor active jobs, address resource needs, and ensure clients and adjusters receive necessary follow-ups.

Compensation & Benefits

The Mitigation Project Manager role offers a competitive base salary of $55,000 to $70,000 annually. Compensation includes performance-based incentives such as 2% commission on projects you sell and 1.5% profit share on projects you manage (contingent on meeting margin targets). Pay is issued weekly.

Additional benefits include health, dental, vision, and life insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan coming soon. You’ll be provided a company vehicle with personal use permitted within reasonable limits, as well as a laptop and an optional company cell phone. Flexible scheduling and advancement opportunities are also available.
